Home from the Hospital

I was supposed to have a short vacation at my relatives' house. Mommy was excitedly packing our clothes. But then the doctor called. The blood tests result showed I've got low hemoglobin count. I need to go to the hospital. I was at the  Philippine Children Medical Center for three days. I had blood transfusions and albumin.

I am very happy still because I was still able to go on a very short vacation. We went to my relatives' house on Easter Sunday. Stayed there overnight.

I got this baby bouncer as a gift. I love it sooo much.

A Twitter Story

She tweeted. God answered.

Three weeks ago, my mom and dad received a text message from Mr Ogie Alcasid. He told them he wanted to help us. Mom was surprised. We asked my mom's godmother if she knows anything about it because she was the one who started this fundraising campaign. She said she tweeted Mr Ogie and asked if he could retweet my story to his followers.

Me and my parents were invited today by Mr and Mrs Ogie Alcasid to their home. They learned about the fundraising campaign for my liver transplant and offered us help. I also met baby Nate. He is a lucky baby because he has kindhearted parents. I am sure he will also grow up like them.

This is a gift from baby Nate. I'm so excited to play with this. I'll ask my mommy to take a picture of me.

my mom's brother, mr ogie, my mom's godmother, me and mommy,  ms regine, my daddy

They also prayed for me. I know I will be healed.

Thank you Mr Ogie Alcasid, Ms Regine V Alcasid and baby Nate.

A Fighting Chance Fundraising T-Shirt

I was wondering why my relatives were so busy in front of the computer last week. I also see them chatting a lot and making phone calls discussing something. I found out later they were busy designing a shirt for my fundraising. I'll let you take a peek ...

My mom has already ordered the t-shirt for printing. I'm really excited. I hope they make a baby size. They will be selling the shirt starting next week.

Check Up Day

Happy Friday!

I went to the Philippine Children Medical Center today for my check up. I'm glad the weather is wonderful today. Yesterday it was raining the whole day.

I was behaved the whole time the doctor is checking me. See, I'm just lying there like a good baby. Funny, my daddy and the doctor seem like they agreed on what color to wear today!

The doctor is checking the wound from my liver biopsy operation two weeks ago.

That's my wound. Can you guess how many inches? That scar is a remembrance of my bravery.

My doctor said I need to continue with my medication while waiting for the liver transplantion.

Good Night, everyone!

Sleep My Child

Sleep my child and peace attend thee,
All through the night.
Guardian angels God will send thee,
All through the night.
Soft the drowsy hours are creeping,
Hill and vale in slumber sleeping,
I my loving vigil keeping,
All through the night.
While the moon her watch is keeping
All through the night.
While the weary world is sleeping
All through the night.
O'er the spirit gently stealing,
Visions of delight revealing,
Breathes a pure and holy feeling,
All through the night.

God Bless Your Sole

I was told that a woman can never have too many shoes. But there exists a woman who can give up a pair of shoes to save my life.

My mom told me that one manager at Zara has been eyeing a pair of shoes for the longest time. She learned about my fundraising through this blog and decided to donate the money instead.

Thank you so much. You keep my hope alive. I know you will be blessed.

Going Home

I am excited to go home. It has been a week since I was confined at room 230.  I am also happy that I am already allowed to drink milk. I'm so tired of drinking glucose water. I will see again my doctor after two weeks. The documents from the hospital will also be ready by then. My parents and relatives can start facilitating for my liver transplantation.

I miss my crib and my pillow. I'll surely have a restful sleep at home.

Biliary Atresia

I had my utrasound and liver biopsy this morning. I am only 4 months old but I am very brave. I am in my room already recovering from the minor operation. I only cry because I am hungry. I am not allowed to drink milk yet.

The doctor found out that I have Biliary Atresia. This is a life-threatening disease that damages the liver of newborns. It occurs in 1 of every 10,000 babies. My parents were told that my liver did not fully develop. My bile duct is missing. The bile duct connects the liver to the small intestines which is responsible for draining bile from the liver.

I was supposed to undergo Kasai procedure (hepato-portoenterostomy). Unfortunately, upon seeing the condition of my liver, the Doctor advised that I undergo liver transplantation. A huge amount of money is needed for the operation to push through. Luckily, my mother is a potential donor. What we need now is to raise funds to pay for the cost of the procedure. We need to prepare at least P2,500,000 ($60,000). I cannot count yet but I'm sure a lot of money is involved.

Doctor, doctor, am I sick?

I am brought to the Philippine Children Medical Center in Quezon Avenue today. You would not think that I am sick because I am bubbly and my appetite is terrific. But they noticed that my skin and my eyes are still yellowish and somehow my stomach looks bloated.

I don't want to stay in the hospital. It is more fun at home.

Please pray for my quick recovery.

A Month After

I'm a month old now. Look, I'm already wearing a collared shirt. Soon enough, you'll see me in my jeans.
